The West Kotawaringin (Kobar) Regency Government, Central Kalimantan, reaffirmed its commitment to the healthcare sector by inaugurating an inpatient building at the Kumai Community Health Center Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD). This move is part of the regional development vision to provide more accessible, high-quality, and equitable health services for all residents.
Regent of West Kotawaringin, Nurhidayah, stated that the new building aims to optimize medical care at the community health center level. With inpatient facilities now available, residents in the Kumai region no longer need to be referred to the hospital for conditions that can still be managed at primary healthcare facilities.
"The addition of this facility is expected to reduce the referral burden on Sultan Imanuddin Regional General Hospital. As long as the patient's condition falls within the general and standard category, comprehensive care can now be provided at Kumai Health Center," Nurhidayah explained after the inauguration ceremony on Monday (6/7/2026).
In addition to upgrading physical infrastructure, the Kobar Regency Government also ensured that the quality of human resources at the facility meets the standard operating procedures set by the Ministry of Health. Currently, the Kumai Health Center is supported by nine doctors as well as professional medical personnel ready to provide daily health services to the local community.
The inauguration was marked by the signing of a commemorative plaque and an inspection of the inpatient rooms, symbolizing the Kobar Regency Government's efforts to shorten the distance to healthcare access. The government hopes that strengthening this capacity will further increase the efficiency of medical services in West Kotawaringin and have a tangible impact on public welfare.
