The Padang City Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the health sector through a promotional and preventive approach. This strategic step was realized by bringing in former Malaysian Deputy Health Minister I, Datuk Dr. Noor Azmi, for a health education event held in Berok Nipah Village, West Padang District, on Saturday (4/7/2026).

The event served as a momentum for local residents to gain a deep understanding of the urgency of a healthy lifestyle and the importance of early detection of non-communicable diseases. In addition to the education session, the local government facilitated free health check-up services, including blood sugar, cholesterol, uric acid tests, and Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements.

Mayor of Padang, Fadly Amran, emphasized that cross-sector synergy, including the involvement of international health experts, is an important instrument in building collective awareness. According to him, this initiative is in line with the flagship 'Padang Melayani' program, which focuses on strengthening the role of Resident Doctors so that access to health services can reach the community more evenly.

The presence of Datuk Dr. Noor Azmi, who has a significant track record in handling the COVID-19 pandemic in Malaysia, provided the community with a new perspective on disease prevention strategies. Through this collaboration, the Padang City Government hopes that residents will become increasingly proactive in maintaining their health before more serious medical complications arise.
