Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital (RSI) Semarang is currently exploring a strategic collaboration with Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) Semarang. This partnership is designed to enhance the communication competence of both medical and non-medical staff through advanced studies in Udinus's Master of Communication Science (MIKom) program.
The President Director of RSI Sultan Agung, Agus Ujianti, emphasized that improving the quality of healthcare services must begin with strengthening human resource capacity. In today's digital era, strategic communication skills are no longer just an add-on, but a primary pillar in building public trust and ensuring patient safety.
According to Agus, the challenges of healthcare services in the future will become increasingly complex. Therefore, hospitals need staff who are not only experts in the medical field, but also possess critical thinking, leadership, and persuasive communication skills to address the dynamic needs of the community.
Meanwhile, the Head of the MIKom Study Program at Udinus, Agus Triyono, explained that the healthcare sector is currently facing the challenge of managing information in the digital space, ranging from the rise of hoaxes to changes in patient behavior when searching for information. Through this master's program, Udinus offers a practical curriculum covering health communication, crisis management, and the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) for organizational communication strategies.
The cooperation between the two institutions is projected to extend beyond formal education programs. In the future, RSI Sultan Agung and Udinus will also collaborate on health communication research, practitioner lecture programs, and community service, which will be formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near future.
