Heading into the 2026/2027 Liga 1 season, Persebaya Surabaya has taken a significant step in modernizing its team management by integrating the latest sport science technology. The team, nicknamed Bajul Ijo, now relies on the VALD biomechanical analysis system to map its players' physical condition in a deep and measurable way.

Persebaya Operational Director, Candra Wahyudi, emphasized that investing in medical infrastructure is part of the club's efforts to safeguard their valuable assets. According to him, the team's success on the pitch must be supported by a strong ecosystem so that the risk of player injuries can be minimized and the rehabilitation process can run more efficiently.

Persebaya Chief Medical Officer, dr. Pratama Wicaksana Wijaya, explained that using VALD technology allows the medical team to go beyond conventional assessment methods. Through a series of advanced devices such as HumanTrak, ForceDecks, ForceFrame, SmartSpeed, and NordBord, all aspects of athletic performance—ranging from muscle strength, balance, to explosive power—are scientifically analyzed into objective data.

This data then serves as a crucial reference for physical trainers and physiotherapy staff to design personalized training programs for each player. With regular monitoring four to six times a season, the coaching staff can accurately evaluate player development and make injury prevention interventions before those risks become serious issues.

In addition to being applied to the senior squad, this data-driven performance standardization also reaches players at the Persebaya Academy and Elite Pro Academy (EPA) levels. This step reflects the management's long-term commitment to building a modern, professional, and evidence-based development foundation to boost Persebaya's competitiveness in national football.
