The Egypt national team managed to secure a narrow 1-0 lead over Australia in the 2026 World Cup round of 32 match held at Dallas Stadium, United States, on Saturday (4/7) early morning WIB. The lead was secured through an early goal scored by Emam Ashour.
The match was played with high intensity right from the start. Interestingly, Egypt fielded their star player, Mohamed Salah, from the first minute despite prior concerns regarding his post-injury fitness. Egypt immediately took the attacking initiative, but Australia responded with a pressing game that made it quite difficult for the opposing team to move.
Australia actually came close to opening the scoring first in the fifth minute through a solo effort by Cristian Volpato. Unfortunately, the player's powerful shot from outside the penalty box hit the crossbar of Egypt's goal.
