PT PLN Batam has once again received recognition for its commitment to implementing sustainable business practices. The electricity provider serving the Batam, Rempang, and Galang areas has officially become one of the candidates in the national TOP CSR Awards 2026 after undergoing an in-depth judging process on Wednesday (13/5/2026).

Corporate Secretary of PLN Batam, Rudi Antono, stated that the company has transformed the paradigm of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Today, CSR is no longer viewed merely as a philanthropic activity, but as a strategic element integrated with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles to support long-term business growth.

As a serious step, PLN Batam established a Sustainability Committee in 2025 under the direct supervision of the President Director. This policy aligns with the national Net Zero Emission 2060 target, realized through the construction of strategic projects such as a 42 MWp floating solar power plant in Batam, while strengthening corporate governance through SNI ISO 37001:2016 certification for Anti-Bribery Management Systems.

In the realm of community empowerment, PLN Batam applies the measurable concept of Creating Shared Value (CSV). Through Social Return on Investment (SROI) evaluations, programs such as biofloc development, mangrove conservation, and support for MSMEs have proven to deliver significant economic and social impacts, with an SROI index above 1.00.

The successful integration of these sustainability principles has also had a positive impact on public trust. PLN Batam successfully recorded a Customer Satisfaction Index of 98.93 percent, confirming that the effectiveness of corporate governance goes hand in hand with the reliability of electricity supply and a real contribution to the community ecosystem in the Riau Islands.
