Facing the series of agendas for the simultaneous regional head elections (Pilkada), the Public Relations Division of the National Police (Polri) has reaffirmed the institution's commitment to maintaining the neutrality of its personnel. This policy refers to the mandate of Law Number 2 of 2002 concerning the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia, which positions Polri as a law enforcement agency that must stand above all groups.
Strict instructions have been issued by the National Police Chief, strictly prohibiting the involvement of Polri members in practical political activities. Every personnel is forbidden to provide support of any kind, whether in the form of abusing official facilities or making statements of bias on social media that could potentially damage the professional image of the Bhayangkara corps.
To ensure compliance in the field, the police will conduct close monitoring through internal synergy with the Profession and Security Division (Propam). Polri has also officially opened a public complaint post to receive reports if there are indications of neutrality violations by rogue members during the stages of the democratic festival.
Any personnel proven to have committed violations will face severe disciplinary and code of ethics sanctions. This firm step is taken as an effort to safeguard the dignity and honor of the Polri institution, ensuring that the entire voting process runs fairly, safely, and conductively for all levels of society.
