The waves were monitored at three observation points: Ulu Siau and Melonguane in North Sulawesi, and one point in the North Maluku region.
As a follow-up impact of the seismic activity, the city of Tarakan in North Kalimantan is now placed on alert status. BMKG explained that the tectonic tremors originated from the southern coast of Mindanao, Philippines, triggering early warnings for surrounding coastal areas.
