The Ksatria Airlangga Hospital Ship (RSKKA) has officially set sail once again on a humanitarian mission to provide medical services to communities in remote areas. This time, the vessel departed from Kalimas Port, Surabaya, on Sunday (July 12, 2026), bound primarily for Bluto, Raas Island, Karamian Island, and Masalembu Island in Sumenep Regency.
Carrying the theme 'Together Building a Healthy Generation', the program is scheduled to run until July 25, 2026. The send-off ceremony for the volunteer team was attended by several key figures, including the President Director of BPJS Kesehatan, Major General (Ret.) Dr. dr. Prihati Pujowaskito, as well as representatives from the East Java Provincial Government and Airlangga University.
Vice Dean II of FK UNAIR, Dr. Abdulloh Machin, emphasized that the presence of RSKKA is a tangible manifestation of the university's commitment to creating direct social impact for the community, rather than being a mere academic ivory tower. He even opened up opportunities for international collaboration by inviting Australian universities to participate in future community service missions.
The geographical challenges in 3T (Frontier, Outermost, and Underdeveloped) regions were the main focus of BPJS Kesehatan President Director, Dr. Prihati Pujowaskito. He urged local governments to proactively declare the status of Regions Without Qualified Health Facilities (DBTFMS) through local leader decrees, enabling RSKKA services to be supported by the INA-CBG payment scheme in accordance with National Health Insurance regulations.
Meanwhile, the Director of RSKKA, dr. Agus Harianto, stated that his team consists of 37 joint personnel, ranging from specialist doctors to other professional medical staff. The ship is equipped with adequate facilities to perform surgical operations directly at sea, including surgical, obstetric, and ophthalmic care, to reach the needs of island communities with limited access to health facilities.
