Mayor of Sibolga, Akhmad Syukri Nazry Penarik, received an audience and warmly welcomed the arrival of Indonesian Taekwondo athletes from Sibolga City at the Mayor's Official Residence Hall on Wednesday (22/7/2026) evening. This meeting served as a moment of appreciation for the success of the athletes who successfully won championship titles at the regional and national levels.
On this occasion, representatives of the athletes reported a number of recent brilliant achievements. Among them was winning the title of 3rd Overall Winner in the Overall Category at the PBTI Series Ksatria Nusantara International Taekwondo Championship in Medan last April, followed by a similar achievement as the 3rd Overall Winner in the North Sumatra National Taekwondo Championship in June 2026.
Akhmad Syukri expressed his pride and highest appreciation to the athletes, coaches, and the entire management involved. He emphasized that this achievement proves the great potential of young athletes from Sibolga to compete at a higher level, while also serving as a trigger for preparations for the upcoming tournament, the Sibolga Mayor's Cup Super Taekwondo Championship.
The Mayor emphasized the importance of structured long-term development. Through the upcoming Mayor's Cup tournament, the local government is committed to screening top talent to receive special training so they can qualify for the Southeast Asian sports event, the SEA Games.
Through concrete support from the city government, Akhmad Syukri hopes that the sports sector in Sibolga will continue to grow and generate more national and international achievements. In addition, he also reminded that the achievements of these athletes should inspire the local youth to actively achieve success and stay away from the dangers of drug abuse.
