Welcoming the celebration of the 76th Anniversary of South Kalimantan Province and the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the South Kalimantan Youth and Sports Department (Dispora) has designed a series of large-scale sports activities. From July to August 2026, a total of nine sports agendas will be held to strengthen togetherness while promoting a healthy lifestyle in Earth of Lambung Mangkurat.
This series of activities is planned to target various segments of society, ranging from students, civil servants (ASN), sports communities, to the general public. Muhammad Anugrah, Head of Sports Culture Division at Dispora South Kalimantan, revealed that this initiative aims to serve as a platform for public participation and foster a spirit of sportsmanship at the regional level.
The competition agenda will open with the Three Sports Festival on July 23–26, 2026, featuring boxing, sambo, and diving at strategic locations in Banjarmasin. Entering August, the independence euphoria will continue with a joint fun bike ride for civil servants, a fun walk for the general public, and the annual marching event involving various educational levels, the military (TNI), police (Polri), and community organizations.
One of the main highlights of this year's celebration is the Push Bike South Borneo event scheduled for August 15–16. Anugrah mentioned that the event has drawn the attention of participants from various provinces outside Kalimantan, confirming its status as a national-scale competition. To conclude the festivities, Dispora South Kalimantan will organize an inter-agency Padel tournament and a mini soccer competition designed to maintain harmony and sportsmanship among institutions.
As a public outreach step, Dispora South Kalimantan, in collaboration with the Communication and Information Department (Diskominfo), will soon disseminate schedules and technical information through various media channels and videotrons in Banjarmasin and Banjarbaru. The entire community is urged to actively participate in enlivening this historic series of events.
