The Mimika Regency Government is preparing to celebrate the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, which falls on August 17, 2026. Various exciting agendas, ranging from sports competitions to a public entertainment stage, have been designed to involve the active participation of all elements of society.
The Chairperson of the Mimika Regency Independence Day Committee, Yohana Paliling, revealed that this year's series of events will be enlivened by a fun walk, a cultural carnival, and walking football matches. In addition, the public will also be entertained by performances from several artists on the public entertainment stage, complete with the distribution of attractive door prizes resulting from collaboration between the local government and the private sector.
Yohana also invited the residents of Mimika to participate in celebrating this historic momentum by raising the red and white flag and decorative banners in their respective residential areas. Meanwhile, preparations for the flag-raising and lowering ceremonies, which will be centered at the SP 3 Government Center Office Field, Kuala Kencana District, are now reported to have reached 80 percent.
