PANGKALPINANG — Ahead of the 42nd National Children's Day (HAN) commemoration in 2026, the Family Welfare Movement (TP-PKK) Team of Bangka Belitung Islands Province held a Literacy Training activity at the Babel Regional Library (Perpusda), Tuesday (21/7/2026). Through this agenda, hundreds of elementary school (SD) students were invited to cultivate a love for reading while building awareness of the importance of maintaining physical health from an early age.
The Chairperson of TP-PKK Babel, Noni Hidayat Arsani, emphasized that a passion for reading is the main foundation in shaping a learner's character and determining a child's future success. In the program titled "Bergerak Aktif Bersama Bunda Noni" (Beraksi) [Moving Actively with Mother Noni], she motivated students from SDN 21, SDN 52, and SDN 58 Pangkalpinang to always be diligent in seeking knowledge to achieve their dreams.
In addition to boosting literacy enthusiasm and educating on wise technology use, Noni also highlighted the importance of maintaining oral and dental health. This appeal was reinforced by medical explanations from drg. Suniti from Depati Hamzah Regional Hospital Pangkalpinang. She reminded that early dental care is vital, especially for children who aspire to pursue careers in the military (TNI), police (Polri), aviation, or other professions that enforce strict health standards.
Drg. Suniti urged parents to make use of school holiday periods to have their children's teeth checked regularly every six months. Besides making a habit of brushing teeth twice a day—after breakfast and before going to bed—she also advised children to consume fiber- and water-rich fruits directly as a natural teeth-cleaning method, rather than in the form of juice.
The Literacy Training series of events was lively with various educational and recreational activities. Students not only listened to digital literacy and health materials, but were also invited to preserve traditional games such as congklak and bola bekel, watch educational shows, and enjoy a storytelling performance themed "Anak Hebat Babel Berdaya" (Great Children of Babel Empowered) presented by the Kampung Dongeng Babel community.
