The Chief of the Southwest Papua Regional Police (Kapolda), Brigadier General Audie S. Latuheru, attended the 2026 Extraordinary Provincial Conference (Musorprovlub) of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) for Southwest Papua Province. The meeting, which took place at the Rylich Panorama Hotel in Sorong City on Wednesday (29/7/2026), served as an important momentum in strengthening collaboration to foster high-achieving athletes within the local jurisdiction.
The event, which began this morning, was also attended by key government and security officials, including the Acting Governor of Southwest Papua, members of the Central KONI management, the Chairman of the Southwest Papua MRP, and regional leaders at the regency and city levels. The presence of these various strategic elements underscores a shared commitment to building a more directed and professional sports ecosystem.
On this occasion, the KONI leadership highlighted the importance of transparent organizational governance with high integrity. With solid management, training programs for athletes—who represent the nation's patriots in sports—are expected to run more optimally to bring honor to the region on the national stage.
The Southwest Papua Provincial Government declared its full commitment to supporting sports development facilities and infrastructure. This support is deemed crucial to improving the quality of human resources in the region to make them highly competitive. Meanwhile, the Acting Head of Public Relations of the Southwest Papua Regional Police, Police Commissioner Jenny S.A. Hengkelare, emphasized that the Police Chief's presence represents the National Police's commitment to maintaining security and conduciveness while supporting regional development. Through strong synergy among the police, regional government, and sports management, it is hoped that outstanding athlete talent will emerge from Southwest Papua.
