PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Pembangunan Kalimantan Bagian Timur (UIP KLT) reaffirmed its commitment to environmentally friendly electricity infrastructure development. This concrete step was realized through the signing of the Commitment to Implement Business Continuity Management (BCM) and seven Sustainable Business Policies during a Work Meeting in Balikpapan on Tuesday (14/7).

The signing, led directly by the General Manager of PLN UIP KLT, Dewanto, aims to strengthen Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) governance. This strategic initiative is expected to boost the company's sustainability maturity level while protecting environmental ecosystems and strengthening social relations with communities around the electricity projects.

Dewanto explained that providing reliable electrical energy must now go hand in hand with the responsibility to preserve the earth. Implementing ESG principles is no longer just a complement, but the main foundation for PLN's transformation into a modern energy provider entity that is resilient and adaptive to global industry dynamics.

The seven agreed sustainable policies cover biodiversity management and land restoration, climate change mitigation, social responsibility, and the implementation of green procurement. Instead, PLN UIP KLT also established internal regulations such as social inclusion, worker welfare, and social standards for contractors and service provider partners.

Following this ratification, all these new policies will be immediately socialized and internalized across all internal elements of the company down to cooperation partners. This step is part of a collective effort to realize responsible business practices aligned with long-term national development goals.
