The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Pandeglang Regency, Banten, has issued an official appeal for coastal communities to increase vigilance regarding fluctuations in the volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK). This step was taken following the escalation of the volcano's status from Level II (Caution) to Level III (Alert).
Although the volcano's status has been raised, the situation in the Pandeglang coastal area is reported to remain under control. Economic activities, including buying and selling at traditional markets and the operation of health facilities, continue as usual without significant panic among residents.
The head of the local BPBD emphasized that the main recommendation for fishermen, tourists, and local residents is to maintain a safe distance from the crater. Officials have established a prohibition on activities within a five-kilometer radius from the eruption center to anticipate threats of volcanic material ejecta and incandescent rocks that could endanger safety.
Echoing the appeal, traders in the Labuan area of Pandeglang stated that they are continuing their activities normally. Long experience interacting with the dynamics of Mount Anak Krakatau has made local residents more agile in responding to the increased volcanic activity status, while continuing to monitor official information from relevant authorities.
