Public trust in political stability under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto has reportedly experienced a significant decline. The latest survey results from Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) reveal that as many as 42.8 percent of respondents rate the current national political condition as bad or very bad.
SMRC Executive Director, Deni Irvani, explained that these findings indicate a dominance of negative views among the public. Based on the research data, the number of citizens giving a negative assessment is now almost three times higher compared to those who view the political situation as conducive.
This decline in positive perception did not happen suddenly, but rather forms a consistent downward trend over the last few survey periods. SMRC data shows that in November 2025, respondents who rated national political conditions as good were still at 35.8 percent, before eventually dropping to 27.1 percent in March 2026.
The decline continued until July 2026, where the percentage of positive opinions shrank drastically to just 13.5 percent. According to SMRC's analysis, this dynamic reflects deepening concern among the public, which is also closely correlated with the level of satisfaction with government performance and current national economic developments.
