The Nabire Regency Government (Pemkab), Central Papua, is currently focusing on improving the quality of healthcare services by prioritizing humanistic aspects. This step is taken so that members of the public seeking medical treatment do not just receive procedural medical care, but also feel valued and served with warmth and friendliness.
The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Nabire Regency, Yulianus Passang, emphasized the importance of social service as a first step before medical action is taken. According to him, a warm greeting, polite words, and a smile from healthcare workers (nakes) are fundamental needs for patients when they first arrive at a healthcare facility.
Yulianus added that without a good social approach, even medical services that comply with standard operating procedures (SOP) could potentially be perceived as suboptimal by the public. Therefore, he urged all healthcare workers in Nabire to carry out their duties with sincerity and joy to boost the quality of public services.
This emphasis was conveyed after he conducted a direct inspection of the Siriwini Community Health Center (Puskesmas). This field monitoring step was intentionally carried out to ensure alignment between the administrative reports received and the actual conditions of services in the community, while also building closer coordination with medical staff.
For the Nabire Regency Government, the health and education sectors are pillars of basic service that directly touch the lives of many people. Currently, the Nabire region is supported by 32 community health centers. Although facilities in urban areas are considered by the community to be running quite well, the local government is committed to conducting regular evaluations to ensure the quality becomes even better.
Furthermore, the Nabire Regency Government also invites the public and members of the press to provide constructive and objective feedback. This assessment is expected to clearly distinguish between technical standard operating procedure (SOP) violations and aspects of social friendliness, for the sake of continuous improvement in public services.
