The Minister of Public Works (PU), Dody Hanggodo, is scheduled to conduct a direct inspection of the road damage and the Enang-Enang Bridge in Pintu Rime Gayo Subdistrict, Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh, on Wednesday (8/7/2026). This visit is a swift response from the central government to the condition of the infrastructure affected by the disaster since November 2025.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works, Apri Artoto, emphasized that the government does not want the community to take risks by conducting self-help repairs. Although high appreciation was given to the residents for their collective initiative, the ministry stressed the importance of technical standards to guarantee the safety of road users.
"Development programs from the Ministry of Public Works continue because we prioritize public safety. We are concerned that if repairs are only carried out through self-help without adequate technical calculations, the bridge risks endangering users," Apri told media representatives in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/7/2026).
The central government reaffirmed its role as the primary party responsible for ensuring that all public infrastructure meets feasibility criteria. Minister Dody Hanggodo added that although the spirit of mutual cooperation among residents is highly appreciated, government intervention is still necessary to strengthen existing structures to make them safer and more durable.
The presence of the task force team and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Works on the ground is expected to accelerate the rehabilitation process that the community has been waiting for. The Ministry of Public Works also urged the public to prioritize safety during the ongoing infrastructure development process.
