Excitement filled Merujanya Sport Park, West Jakarta, on Monday (13/7), as the final match of the 2026 West Jakarta Mayor's Cup Mini Soccer Tournament took place. The match was the climax of a three-day series of activities that successfully drew the attention of various segments of the community, ranging from children to the 50-year-old age group.
West Jakarta Mayor, Iin Mutmainnah, expressed her highest appreciation to all parties involved, including the organizing committee and heads of agencies incorporated in Forkopimko. According to her, the success of this tournament not only reflects residents' enthusiasm for sports, but also serves as concrete proof of harmonious synergy between government ranks and the community.
"This is a concrete step toward cultivating a healthy lifestyle in West Jakarta. I am grateful to see facilities like Merujanya Sport Park provided by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government being optimally utilized by residents for activities with their families," Iin stated in her remarks.
Furthermore, Iin emphasized that this tournament will be established as an annual event held to coincide with the anniversary celebrations of the City of Jakarta. This policy is expected to continue fostering a spirit of togetherness and building a healthy and harmonious citizenry.
Echoing these sentiments, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Umar Abdul Aziz, conveyed that this tournament is part of the celebrations welcoming Jakarta's 500th anniversary. He hopes this initiative will spark the construction of similar sports facilities in other areas so that Jakarta increasingly becomes a city oriented toward the health and comfort of its residents.
In addition to featuring fierce matches between teams like Persija Glory and Palma, the event also served as a bonding occasion where leaders, ranging from the Chief of the District Court, the District Military Commander (Dandim), to the Head of the West Jakarta District Prosecutor's Office (Kajari), directly took to the field as participants, demonstrating regional leadership unity among the public.
