The 2026 Bojonegoro Regency Sports Week (Porkab) II has officially reached its peak. The two-week sporting event, running from June 27 to July 10, 2026, was formally closed at the Malowopati Pavilion. This prestigious competition successfully attracted 3,535 athletes from 28 districts who competed against each other in 27 sports disciplines.
The Regent of Bojonegoro, Setyo Wahono, accompanied by Vice Regent Nurul Azizah, attended the ceremony to express appreciation to all involved parties. In his speech, the Regent emphasized that Porkab is not just a stage for winning medals, but a strategic instrument for forging the character, discipline, and integrity of Bojonegoro's youth. According to him, successful sports development must go hand in hand with improving the quality of human resources, including serious attention to stunting prevention in order to create future athletes who are physically and mentally resilient.
On that occasion, Bojonegoro District was crowned the overall champion after showing consistent performance throughout the tournament. Nevertheless, the Regent reminded the athletes to continue upholding the values of sportsmanship. True victory, he said, lies in the ability to appreciate the process and respect opponents, which is the core essence of sports.
Meanwhile, the Youth and Sports Agency (Dinpora) of Bojonegoro introduced a unique breakthrough in the athlete development system by prioritizing a district-based approach. This step was taken to ensure that talent distribution can be mapped across all corners of the region. As a continuation, the Bojonegoro Regency Government plans to launch the District Sports Week (Porcam) in 2027 to strengthen the development ecosystem from the grassroots level.
The closing of the event was marked by the presentation of the rotating trophy to the representatives of Bojonegoro District, as well as the presentation of medals and coaching funds to outstanding athletes. The local government is committed to continuing to provide full support to ensure that every potential talent can continue to develop up to national and international competition levels.
