In order to enliven the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the Mandailing Natal (Madina) Regency Government, through the Youth and Sports Office (Dispora), officially opened the High School Student Volleyball Tournament. The competition took place at the SMA Negeri 2 Plus Panyabungan field on Tuesday (4/8/2026) and was attended by 14 boys' teams and 5 girls' teams from various schools in the Madina region.

The Head of Madina Dispora, Parlin Lubis, who personally opened the event alongside the Madina PBVSI management, explained that the tournament aims to map out the potential of local young athletes. In addition to pursuing achievements, he emphasized the importance of sportsmanship, discipline, and respect for opponents as the core character of a true athlete during matches.

Furthermore, Parlin motivated the participants regarding the long-term benefits of active sports participation. According to him, early physical development is a crucial asset for students aiming to continue their education at civil service colleges or military and police academies, such as IPDN, Akmil, Akpol, and STIN.

"For those of you who want to enroll in civil service colleges, sports are an excellent initial training. Physical fitness tests such as running, swimming, and other physical strength exams will be much easier to pass if the body has been accustomed to being active since school," Parlin said. He also added that religious achievement pathways, such as being a Quran hafiz, also receive special attention in the recruitment process.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of PBVSI Madina, Arde Sukhri, emphasized that they would closely monitor the players' performances during the tournament. Potential players identified will eventually be projected to join the official Mandailing Natal Regency volleyball team to compete at higher levels.

The Principal of SMA Negeri 2 Plus Panyabungan, Henri, expressed his deep appreciation to the Madina Regency Government for the trust placed in his school to host this prestigious student-level sports competition.
