The Government of North Central Timor (TTU) Regency continues to strengthen its commitment to improving public health standards. The Regent of TTU, Yosep Falentinus Delasalle Kebo, gave strict instructions to all Community Health Center (Puskesmas) heads across TTU Regency to prioritize accelerating the reduction of stunting rates and minimizing maternal and infant mortality. This strategic guidance was delivered during a coordination meeting held at the TTU Health Office Hall on Tuesday (21/7/2026).
Regent Yosep emphasized the importance of regular monitoring of stunting cases in each Puskesmas working area to achieve the target of reducing stunting prevalence by 2027. This intervention step must be accompanied by massive and persuasive nutritional education to the public, especially for pregnant women and families still bound by traditional customs that restrict the consumption of nutritious food.
In addition to addressing stunting, improving the quality of basic medical services was also a major focus. The regional leader asked health workers to increase thoroughness in examining patients and improve service management governance at health centers. According to him, rapid response and proper handling are the main keys to significantly reducing maternal and newborn mortality rates.
To ensure the success of these priority programs, Puskesmas heads are required to do more than just work behind their desks. They were instructed to actively build communication and synergy with village and sub-district governments, community leaders, and all stakeholders. Solid collaboration, service innovation, and direct presence in community activities are considered the main driving forces in realizing excellent public health services in TTU.
