The Bekasi Regency Government has once again achieved a proud milestone at the national level by winning the Best Citizens' Basic Services Award in the health sector. The prestigious award at the Warta Kota Awards 2026 event was presented directly at Studio Satu Kompas TV, Jakarta, on Monday (6/7/2026).
Acting (Plt) Regent of Bekasi, Asep Surya Atmaja, who received the award, emphasized that this appreciation is a form of recognition for the local government's commitment to expanding healthcare access for all elements of society. According to him, this achievement reflects the success of various health protection programs that have been implemented in the region.
Latest data shows that Universal Health Coverage (UHC) achievement in Bekasi Regency has now reached 99.6 percent. This figure indicates that almost all residents in the area are covered by adequate health insurance, through both national and regional schemes.
As a strategic step to bridge accessibility gaps, the Bekasi Regency Government also provides Regional Health Insurance (Jamkesda) for residents not yet registered in the BPJS Kesehatan program. Asep assured that the Jamkesda program will continue to be optimized so that every Bekasi Regency ID card holder receives easy access to medical services without financial barriers.
Although current UHC achievement is already very high, Asep highlighted future challenges alongside dynamic population growth. The local government is committed to maintaining the stability of healthcare coverage so that the quality of public welfare remains sustainably preserved in the future.
