Police officers from the South Lampung Police Satpolairud (Water and Air Police Unit) along with the crew of Police Vessel XXV-2003 Bakauheni Base conducted intensive monitoring at the Mount Anak Krakatau Observation Post in Hargo Pancuran Village, Rajabasa District, on Sunday (5/7/2026). This step was taken following a surge of hoax information regarding an eruption of the volcano, which had sparked public concern.
Head of Public Relations for the Lampung Police, Senior Commissioner Yuni Iswandari Yuyun, confirmed that based on coordination with officials from the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the volcanic activity status of Mount Anak Krakatau remains at Level III or Alert. The police emphasized the importance of referring to official data from relevant authorities to avoid misinformation.
In accordance with the Geological Agency's official recommendations, the public, tourists, and fishermen are strictly prohibited from engaging in any activities within a three-kilometer radius of the active crater. Yuni urged the public not to easily believe unverified news and recommended always accessing official government information channels regarding updates on the volcano's status.
Furthermore, the Lampung Police are committed to continuously monitoring the situation periodically and coordinating with relevant agencies. Resident safety remains the top priority, making compliance with the established safe zones crucial to minimizing unwanted risks.
