The Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (DTETI) of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FT UGM), in collaboration with PT Halia Teknologi Nusantara (HaliaTECH), organized a workshop titled "Data Acquisition and Automated Instrument for Test using LabVIEW with AI". Held at the Smart and Green Learning Center (SGLC) Building of FT UGM, the event targeted students, lecturers, and laboratory assistants to strengthen their understanding of automation systems and artificial intelligence (AI) integration in the information technology sector.

DTETI FT UGM lecturer, Muhammad Faris, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., in his opening remarks, stated that mastering instrumentation and automation technology is crucial amidst the rapid development of cyber-physical systems today. The ability to integrate hardware, software, and AI is now an absolute competency highly demanded in both academic research and modern manufacturing industry needs.

The workshop featured two certified experts from HaliaTECH, the official partner of National Instruments (NI) in Indonesia, namely Andy Yuniawan and Ananda Putra Affandi. Both presented the advantages of LabVIEW graphical programming, which offers high flexibility and easy integration with various third-party laboratory devices. Participants were also introduced to the basic concepts of data acquisition (DAQ) and automated testing systems to optimize research efficiency.

The participants' enthusiasm was evident during the hands-on session. Using advanced sensors and hardware, participants were guided to simulate real physical parameter measurements, ranging from monitoring temperature, vibration, electrical current, to material strain levels. This interactive session was designed to enable participants to independently design fully integrated laboratory control systems.

At the end of the event, Nigel AI was introduced—the latest artificial intelligence innovation from National Instruments specifically designed to accelerate the workflow of creating LabVIEW-based applications. Through this intensive training, DTETI FT UGM hopes to strengthen strategic partnerships with the industrial sector to produce future solution-oriented research based on intelligent systems.
