House of Representatives (DPR RI) member from the NasDem Party faction, Cindy Monica, welcomed the firm stance of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the obligation of political parties to meet the 30 percent quota for women's representation on legislative candidate lists. According to her, this step is a form of strengthening representative democracy for Indonesia's future.
Cindy emphasized that the role of women in the national political arena must not be viewed merely as an administrative addition. The presence of female figures in parliament is considered to have strategic value because it brings social sensitivity and a more inclusive perspective to the process of formulating public policies that favor the people.
Furthermore, she highlighted the urgency of women's involvement in overseeing vital issues, ranging from the health and education sectors to the protection of women's and children's rights. For her, women's ability to manage family welfare issues is a primary asset in creating regulations that directly impact the wider community.
As proof of commitment, Cindy presented the internal success of the NasDem Party, which has exceeded the standard for women's representation since the 2019 General Election. During that period, NasDem recorded a significant achievement by placing 32.2 percent of female legislators in parliamentary seats, which serves as clear proof that women have equal capabilities in national leadership.
Closing her statement, the legislator from the West Sumatra II electoral district encouraged the younger generation of women to cast aside their doubts and start taking an active role. She invited women to no longer view politics as an exclusive space, but rather as a forum to voice their opinions and directly shape the direction of national policy.
