Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, reaffirmed the government's commitment to continuously improving the quality of the Hajj pilgrimage organization. During the National Working Conference (Rakernas) on the Evaluation of the 2026 Hajj Pilgrimage, Gus Irfan highlighted two crucial aspects requiring serious attention: the standardization of pilgrim health and the improvement of infrastructure and services in Mina.
Gus Irfan noted that although the pilgrim mortality rate was successfully reduced by 25 percent, the figure remains a primary concern for the ministry. Therefore, strengthening health istithaah (health readiness) requirements will continue to be promoted to ensure every pilgrim is in prime physical condition prior to departing for the Holy Land.
Beyond the health sector, the effectiveness of innovations implemented this year—including provincial quota management and the use of the Nusuk card—will undergo continued evaluation. The primary focus is to ensure that every innovation yields a direct positive impact on the comfort and safety of pilgrims throughout the Hajj rituals.
Specifically addressing service issues in Mina, Minister Irfan instructed his team to formulate more solution-oriented, concrete steps. He emphasized that all improvement efforts must result in enhanced facilities and pilgrim comfort so that rituals performed at the location proceed more optimally.
On this occasion, he also expressed appreciation to all involved parties, including the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and field officers (PPIH). Gus Irfan expressed hope that this cross-sector synergy can be sustained to achieve a more professional, humane, and pilgrim satisfaction-oriented Hajj service in the future.
