The historic town of Provins is preparing to once again host France's most iconic agricultural tradition celebration, the Fête de la Moisson, scheduled for Sunday, August 23, 2026. This festival offers visitors a unique opportunity to step back in time and enjoy the atmosphere of a grand harvest amidst magnificent and picturesque medieval architecture.
A variety of engaging attractions have been prepared to delight visitors of all ages. Highlights include a parade of vintage tractors and vehicles, traditional wheat harvesting demonstrations, as well as folk music and dance performances. For families with children, educational activities include interactions with farm animals and giant traditional wooden games designed to teach about rural life.
The festival's climax will be the grand parade through the streets of the Upper Town. The procession of vehicles decorated with wheat, accompanied by artisans and participants dressed in traditional costumes, will create an authentic spectacle at the foot of the city's ramparts. In addition to the parade, an exhibition of antique farming equipment stands as a silent witness to the evolution of agriculture in the past.
Organizers have set general admission at 12 euros for full access to the festival. Visitors can also opt for a 20-euro pass, which includes exclusive entry to Provins' historic sites, such as the César Tower, the Grange aux dîmes, the underground tunnels, and Saint-Ayoul Priory. Children under five years old enter free of charge.
