The BioMom movement has arrived in Kupang City to educate the public on the vitality of digestive health as the primary foundation of family well-being. Led by Swiluva Sigalovada Swilly Sumardy Ma, an 11th-grade student from Tzu Chi School PIK, this program targets 500 participants comprising local communities, integrated health posts (posyandu), and public health centers (puskesmas).
During the training, BioMom provided practical understanding regarding beneficial bacteria and the hygiene of the fermentation process. One of the main highlights of the activity was training on making water kefir, a probiotic beverage that is easy to produce at the household level to naturally maintain gut health.
Swiluva emphasized that gut health is often considered complex, even though preventive measures at home can be the key to parental productivity and children's optimal growth and development. Beyond being just a health issue, this movement also views probiotics as an opportunity for community economic empowerment to achieve self-reliance through the production of healthy drinks.
The Mayor of Kupang, Christian Widodo, fully supported this initiative. He stated that the development of a city is not only measured by infrastructure, but must begin with the quality of healthy families in every household. For him, healthy families are the main pillar in building a strong city.
Kupang is the third city visited by BioMom after Jakarta and Serang. Strategic collaboration between the Kupang City Government, the Health Office, and various community elements is expected to create a sustainable healthy living ecosystem, aligning with the movement's grand vision to make Indonesian cities national probiotic hubs.
