SURAKARTA — Mastery of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) has now become an absolute requirement for higher education graduates to compete on the international stage. Nevertheless, the sophistication of such technology is believed to never be able to replace the role of humans who possess integrity, ethics, and strong character.
This was emphasized by Juliyatmono, a Member of Commission X of the DPR RI, during his keynote speech at the Talent Development Workshop held at Slamet Riyadi University (Unisri) Surakarta. The event, themed "Digital Transformation of Learning and Technology Implementation," highlighted the importance of producing adaptive graduates without losing human values.
The former Regent of Karanganyar explained that digital acceleration in the academic environment is a necessity to improve teaching and learning effectiveness. According to him, although technology speeds up work processes, long-term success still depends on the moral quality of its users.
Echoing this sentiment, the Rector of Unisri Surakarta, Prof. Dr. Drs. Sutoyo, M.Pd., stressed that digital transformation at the university level heavily depends on the readiness of educators. He encouraged lecturers to continuously improve their digital skills to deliver lecture materials interactively and relevantly to the demands of the modern workforce.
The workshop, organized through collaboration between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), Commission X of the DPR RI, and Unisri, is expected to foster a balanced academic ecosystem. Through the synergy of digital competence and ethical reinforcement, students are expected to be ready to face the dynamics of global employment.
