A land fire that swept through the Kalam Baloh Mountain area in Kotafajar, North Kluet District, was finally completely extinguished on Sunday (2/8/2026) afternoon at around 15:19 WIB. This success was achieved after a joint team conducted intensive sweeping to ensure no remaining embers or hotspots remained at the scene.

This rapid suppression effort was directly mobilized under the instruction of the Head of the Forest Management Unit (KPH) Region IX Aceh, Dr. Irwandi, S.P., M.P. In the emergency response action, personnel from the Pasie Raja Forest Management Resort (RPH) and South Kluet RPH were fully deployed to reinforce the firefighting forces on the ground.

During the extinguishing process, the KPH collaborated closely with the Kotafajar Gampong (village) Government, directly escorted by the Gampong Secretary, Al Syukri Rahman, S.T. This cross-sector cooperation proved effective in containing the flames within an area of approximately 1.5 hectares, preventing more severe ecosystem damage.

The Head of KPH Region IX Aceh, Dr. Irwandi, expressed high appreciation for the dedication of all personnel involved. According to him, preparedness and solid coordination were the main keys to successfully managing this forest and land fire (karhutla) before it could spread to wider forest areas.

Following this incident, KPH Region IX Aceh, together with the Gampong Government, urged the public to increase vigilance, especially since the region is entering the dry season. Residents are strictly prohibited from clearing plantation land using burn methods to prevent similar disasters from recurring in the future.
