The National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) Kendal Regency, through its Health Division, continues to strengthen the readiness of the regional contingent ahead of the XVII Central Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) in 2026. One of the strategic steps taken was organizing advanced massage and sports injury management training for the medical team at the Cepiring Community Health Center (Puskesmas) on Saturday (11/7/2026).
General Chairman of KONI Kendal, Subur Isnadi, emphasized that the role of the medical team is vital in boosting athlete performance. Drawing on experience from the XVI Porprov in 2023 in Pati Raya, Subur stressed that the presence of competent medical personnel serves not only to treat injuries, but is also crucial for maintaining physical condition and ensuring athlete safety during training and competition.
A total of 30 participants from the Central Java Porprov health team received intensive guidance from a practitioner at the Muhammadiyah University of Semarang (Unimus), Muhamad Muhibi. During the practical session, participants were taught the latest techniques, including the management of hamstring injuries—a scourge for many athletes—as well as proper sports massage management before and after matches.
In addition to massage techniques, the Health Division of KONI Kendal also introduced the *Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation* (PNF) method. Slamet Riyadi, a representative of KONI Kendal's Health Division, explained that this method is effective in improving muscle flexibility and coordination by combining contraction and relaxation principles. It is hoped that the application of this PNF technique will accelerate recovery while minimizing injury risks for all Kendal athletes competing in Semarang Raya in 2026.
