PGRI Purworejo 2nd Regency Work Conference: Integrating Digital Technology with Human Empathy

PGRI Purworejo holds its 2nd Regency Work Conference to strengthen organizational independence, legal protection for teachers, and the integration of AI technology without diminishing the humanistic aspect of education.

In facing technological disruption and the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) in the education sector, the Teachers Association of the Republic of Indonesia (PGRI) of Purworejo Regency has emphasized the importance of balancing technological proficiency with educator empathy. This was highlighted during the 2nd Regency Work Conference (Konkerkab) of the XXII Service Period Year 2026, held at the PGRI Purworejo Building on Saturday (04/07/2026).

Vice Chair of PGRI Central Java Province, Dr. Hj. Sri Suciati, M.Hum., stressed that modern teachers must be able to adopt both 'high tech' and 'high touch' concepts. According to her, although technology can deliver information quickly, the role modeling and affection of a teacher can never be replaced by machines.

In addition to highlighting pedagogical aspects, the forum praised PGRI Purworejo's governance, which was deemed highly progressive. The organization is recorded as one of the top 10 regions in Central Java to convene a work conference earliest, reflecting healthy organizational management and discipline in fulfilling member obligations.

Chairman of PGRI Purworejo Regency, Irianto Gunawan, S.Pd., outlined the organizational independence strategy for the 2025–2030 period. The main focus includes acquiring independent assets, such as plans to build a teacher activity center equipped with sports facilities and lodging, as well as developing a bottled drinking water business unit to reduce reliance on membership dues.

In an effort to ensure professional security, PGRI Purworejo officially established a strategic partnership with a legal team from Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo (UMPWR). This step was taken so that all members receive adequate legal protection while carrying out their educational duties in the field.

Full support also came from the Purworejo Regency Government. Head of the Education and Culture Office, Yudhie Agung Prihatno, S.STP., M.M., emphasized that PGRI is a strategic partner of the government. This cross-sector collaboration is expected to foster an innovative educational ecosystem that is safe for teachers and focused on improving human resource quality in the Purworejo region.
