Students from the Thematic Community Service (KKN-T) Group 21 of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (Umsida) successfully initiated an inclusive Senior Posyandu (Elderly Integrated Health Post) program at the Kendalsewu Village Hall on Thursday (9/7/2026). This event was not merely a venue for medical examinations, but a holistic effort to care for the physical and mental well-being of the elderly in the area.
A total of 55 elderly residents participated in the series of events, fully supported by medical personnel, village PKK (Family Welfare Movement) cadres, and field supervisor lecturers. The program began with a fitness gymnastics session directly led by the students to maintain participants' bodily vitality before proceeding to more in-depth health check-ups.
In addition to physical activity, the students held an educational session entitled "Maintaining Happiness in Golden Age." The session emphasized the importance of managing mental health through a positive mindset, strengthening social support from families, and staying productively engaged in enjoyable activities to improve quality of life in old age.
Head of Umsida KKN-T 21, Muhammad Ali Fikri, stressed that elderly health must be viewed comprehensively. "We want to provide comprehensive services where mental health is placed as equally crucial as physical condition, so that the elderly can live out their old age with better quality and happiness," he explained.
The entire series of medical services, ranging from blood pressure, blood glucose, and uric acid checks to health consultations, ran orderly thanks to the synergy between students, PKK cadres, and local health workers. Participants responded positively, including Kasmini, who expressed hope that such educational programs would continue in the future.
