The Cam Khe District Health Center continues to make breakthroughs in its population program by bringing reproductive health services directly to the sub-district level. This effort is carried out by prioritizing an approach that respects local values, including partnering with religious leaders and local communities to promote the importance of reproductive health as part of family welfare.
In the first six months of this year, the health center held 144 thematic communication sessions involving more than 7,000 participants. The main focus of this program includes prenatal and neonatal screening, thalassemia prevention, and reproductive health education for school-aged adolescents. This initiative has successfully shifted the community's mindset from only seeking treatment when sick to being more proactive in taking preventive measures.
Ahead of World Population Day, an integrated communication campaign was launched in six sub-districts to provide on-site medical services. The medical team provided a range of services from gynecological examinations, modern contraceptive counseling, to family planning education. As a result, the prenatal screening rate reached 95 percent, exceeding the previously set target.
Dr. Trinh Hai Dong, Specialist Level II from the Cam Khe Health Center, emphasized that the key to the program's success lies in cross-sector collaboration involving local governments, mass organizations, and active community participation. This sustainable approach is expected to reduce the gender imbalance at birth and continue to gradually improve the quality of the population.
As a long-term strategic step, the health center is committed to maintaining the intensity of services at the grassroots level. The second phase of the campaign is scheduled to run until 2026, ensuring that every individual, especially in disadvantaged areas, has equal access to healthcare services crucial for a healthier future for families and communities.
