The Regional Public Water Utility Company (Perumda Air Minum) of Padang City has scheduled a temporary operational shutdown of the Gunung Pangilun Water Treatment Plant (WTP) on Friday (10/7/2026). This technical measure, starting at 8:00 PM WIB, is being carried out for routine maintenance involving the draining of the reservoir tank.
The President Director of Perumda Air Minum Padang, Hendra Pebrizal, stated that this agenda is crucial to maintaining clean water quality standards for customers. "This work is being done to clear silt deposits and prevent moss growth so that the water supply to the public remains hygienic and clear," Hendra explained.
The impact of this maintenance process will be felt by approximately 50,000 customers residing in central Padang City. At least 21 affected areas, ranging from Ulak Karang, Kampung Lapai, to the Jati and Anduring areas, are predicted to experience reduced pressure to temporary water supply shutoffs.
In addition to routine draining, the management is also working to restore post-disaster infrastructure, including repairing filter units and intake systems to address raw water turbidity issues. Management urges customers to immediately prepare for this situation by storing sufficient water before work begins.
Perumda AM Padang ensures that supply normalization will be carried out gradually once the work is completed. If the water remains turbid, customers are advised to let it run for a few minutes until it becomes clear again.
