The Balikpapan City Government, along with cross-sectoral agencies, conducted an integrated supervision operation at several Nightlife Venues (THM). This operation focused on inspecting the legality of business licensing and conducting health screenings for workers and hostesses to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infections and narcotics abuse.
Led directly by the Secretary of the Balikpapan City Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Izmir Novian Hakim, this monitoring agenda involved joint personnel from the East Kalimantan Province Satpol PP, the military (TNI), the police (Polri), the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP), the Health Agency, and representatives from the Balikpapan City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD).
Izmir Novian Hakim explained that this step is part of an integrated guidance and supervision effort. He emphasized that the approach used prioritizes persuasive and humanistic aspects to encourage business operators to comply with applicable regulations, creating an orderly and conducive business environment.
In addition to verifying administrative documents in the areas of Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and Jalan Ruhui Rahayu, medical personnel also conducted routine health checks for nightlife venue employees. This preventive measure is expected to minimize the potential transmission of diseases in the workplace, while providing a sense of safety for the public and the workers themselves.
