The National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) took a progressive step to advance the sports world by establishing strategic partnerships. On Friday (3/7/2026), at the KONI DIY Office, the institution officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) as well as various other stakeholders.

In addition to the education sector through UMY, KONI DIY also partnered with the health sector represented by RSPAU dr. S. Hardjolukito, Siloam Hospitals Yogyakarta, and Queen Latifa Hospital Group. This collaboration also includes synergy with Universitas Teknologi Digital Indonesia (UTDI) and the news media Pandangan Jogja to expand the reach of support for athletes.

General Chairman of KONI DIY, K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam X, emphasized that sporting achievements cannot be accomplished instantly, but through a long process involving multi-party collaboration. According to him, the involvement of health, education, and technology institutions is crucial in maintaining athletes' physical fitness, supporting their future careers, and optimizing sports data management.

The partnership with UMY is seen as a strategic move to improve the quality of human resources within DIY's sports environment. Through the integration of the academic world and sports practitioners, it is hoped that concrete programs will emerge to boost the capacity of both athletes and sports administrators in the region.

Concluding his remarks, Paku Alam X emphasized that this cooperation should not merely be a ceremonial event. He expressed hope that all parties involved would immediately realize the agreement into concrete work programs that directly impact the enhancement of DIY's sports achievements, both nationally and internationally.
