President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to receive a state visit from the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/6). This high-level meeting serves as a strategic forum for both nations to strengthen bilateral relations that have been well-established so far.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono revealed that the main agenda of the meeting includes the signing of seven memorandums of understanding (MoUs). This cooperation covers crucial sectors such as defense, education, healthcare, and the development of cutting-edge technology, which is expected to bring concrete benefits to the people of both countries.
The series of state activities will begin with an official welcoming ceremony at the Merdeka Palace. Following this, the two leaders are scheduled to hold a closed-door one-on-one meeting, which will be followed by a formal bilateral meeting and conclude with a state banquet at the State Palace.
Furthermore, Sugiono explained that this visit is a diplomatic response to President Prabowo's visit to India some time ago. This moment also symbolizes the growing political and economic closeness between Indonesia and India in facing future global challenges.
In addition to the state agenda in Jakarta, PM Modi is also scheduled to visit Prambanan Temple on July 8. The visit is a form of concrete commitment by both countries to collaborate on the restoration of the world cultural heritage site, as a follow-up to the agreement on the preservation of historical relics between Indonesia and India.
