Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) has once again strengthened its position as a benchmark for national higher education. The campus received a working visit from the delegation of the Kemala Bangsa Education Foundation and Esa Unggul University in the Meeting Room of the Daily Governing Board (BPH), Siti Walidah Main Building, Surakarta. This meeting aimed to dissect the governance system of health professional education successfully implemented by UMS.
UMS Vice Rector, Prof. Supriyono, warmly welcomed the group and emphasized the importance of collaboration between universities. According to him, this forum serves as a strategic platform to share best practices for the continuous improvement of education quality in Indonesia. It is hoped that relevant flagship programs can be adopted and adapted to the needs of each institution.
In the academic presentation, the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK) UMS, Prof. Umi Budi Rahayu, explained the structural strength of her institution, which oversees nine study programs from four scientific clusters. Integrated management at the university level, while still providing autonomy for faculties and study programs to develop, is the key to UMS's success in producing professional medical personnel. This synergy also involves the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Psychology.
The head of the Esa Unggul University delegation, Dr. Rian Adi Pamungkas, revealed the main reason for choosing UMS as the focus of the comparative study. His team wants to learn UMS's specific formula in maintaining the smooth transition of students from undergraduate level to professional programs, as well as strategies for human resource (HR) capacity building that have proven effective.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine UMS, Flora Ramona Sigit Prakoeswa, also shared the importance of adaptive leadership and the expansion of national networks in managing medical faculties. Through this collaboration, both institutions agreed that progress in the quality of health education in Indonesia can only be accelerated through openness to mutual learning and knowledge sharing in order to produce outstanding and high-integrity healthcare professionals.
