The Tarakan Resort Police (Polres) are conducting an intensive investigation into a case of violent robbery (curas) that befell a student in the Gunung Selatan Road area, Kampung Satu Skip Village, Central Tarakan District. The tragic incident experienced by the victim, identified by the initials M.A.S (20), occurred on Wednesday (22/7/2026) near midnight.
The incident began when the victim was on his way home. Along the way, he saw a man and a woman who appeared to be having trouble due to their broken-down motorcycle. Driven by humanitarian concern, the victim decided to stop and help push the vehicle.
However, the victim's good intentions ended in disaster. Suddenly, the victim was approached by an unidentified person who immediately grabbed his valuables, consisting of an iPhone 13 mobile phone and a wallet containing Rp3,740,000 in cash. In addition to the robbery, the perpetrator also stabbed the victim in the left side of his abdomen with a sharp weapon and struck his head.
Despite being injured, the victim managed to escape and reach home. His family, shocked to see his condition, immediately provided emergency medical assistance and reported the criminal act to the Tarakan Police. As a result of the incident, the victim's material losses are estimated to reach Rp9,740,000.
Currently, police officers have taken investigative steps by collecting evidence, questioning witnesses, and hunting down the perpetrator. The police also urged the public to increase vigilance, especially when traveling through quiet and poorly lit streets at night.
