The Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office in Bali Province projects that the presence of an International Financial Special Economic Zone (SEZ) will serve as a main catalyst for the growth of business tourism, also known as business leisure (bleisure), on the Island of the Gods. This policy is expected to attract tourist segments seeking not only leisure, but also engagement in global-scale economic activities.

Yusuf Wicaksono, Deputy Director of the BI Bali Representative Office, emphasized that this development represents a strategic step in diversifying tourism products. By targeting the business segment, Bali has the opportunity to enhance the quality of visits, reflected in higher tourist spending and longer stays, thereby generating a sustainable economic impact for the region in the medium to long term.

The location for the development of this international financial center is planned within the Kura Kura SEZ area, Serangan Village, Denpasar. Currently, the central government is accelerating regulatory refinement and supporting infrastructure construction to ensure optimal operations of the SEZ in accordance with international standards.

Data from the Bali Tourism Office recorded a surge in foreign tourist arrivals in 2025 reaching 7.05 million people, a significant increase from 6.33 million the previous year. Nevertheless, the challenge of increasing the average length of stay remains a key concern for industry players, including PHRI Bali, which is now focusing on promoting quality tourism centered on economic value, sustainability, and service excellence.
