The Joint SAR Team successfully found and evacuated two young men who were reported lost while hiking on Mount Egon, Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. The two victims, Daniel (25) and Yezki (22), were found safe despite suffering from severe physical exhaustion.

The incident began when the two hikers were heading back down to Post 1 of the Mount Egon hiking trail after spending the day at the summit. However, during the descent, poor visibility due to the darkness of the night caused them to lose their way and get lost along the trail.

Realizing the dangerous situation, Daniel quickly contacted the Maumere Search and Rescue (SAR) Office to request emergency assistance. The report was immediately responded to by the Head of the Maumere SAR Office as the SAR Mission Coordinator (SMC), Fathur Rahman, who deployed a Rescue Team fully equipped with mountaineering gear.

After tracing the hiking trail to the designated coordinates, the SAR team finally managed to find both victims in a weakened state. Officers immediately evacuated them to the starting point of the hike for emergency medical examination. Once their physical condition was declared improved and stable, both victims were allowed to return to their respective homes, and the search operation was officially closed.
