KALIANDA – The management of Karang Taruna (Youth Association) of South Lampung Regency is preparing a major agenda to close their 2022–2027 term of office. Through an audience with the Regent of South Lampung, this youth organization presented a plan for an event titled “Explore Spirit of Local Wisdom: Rajabasa Mountain – The Power Icon of South Lampung,” designed to strengthen regional identity.
The warm coordination meeting was also attended by the Head of the National Unity and Politics Department (Kesbangpol) Puji Sukamto, the Assistant for Administration and Welfare Drs. Darmawan, M.M., and members of the Karang Taruna management. This agenda is projected to become a collaborative platform for youth at the village and sub-district levels across South Lampung.
The Chairman of Karang Taruna South Lampung, Sahirul Hidayat, explained that the event scheduled for late October, coinciding with Youth Pledge Day, is not merely a physical competition. The activity integrates three main programs: a Mount Rajabasa climbing competition to build physical endurance, a creative visualization contest to promote local tourism potential, and a hands-on greening action in the buffer forest area.
On the same occasion, the General Secretary of Karang Taruna South Lampung, Saefunnaim, submitted several requests for support to the local government. These include the involvement of the Department of Village Community Empowerment (PMD) for participant mobilization, security coordination with BPBD (disaster management), the Fire Department (Damkar), and Satpol PP (public order agency), as well as partnerships with the private sector through the CSR Forum and local geothermal energy operators.
Responding to the presentation, the Regent of South Lampung welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the local government's commitment to ensuring the success of the program. The Regent expressed readiness to provide policy support and facilitate cross-sector collaboration to ensure the youth event runs smoothly and delivers a tangible impact on the community.
In addition to giving the green light to the planned activities, the Regent also reminded them of the importance of organizational administrative aspects. He requested Karang Taruna to immediately complete the restructuring process and the inauguration of the new management in accordance with applicable regulations, in order to strengthen the role of youth in regional development.
