The performance of the North Central Timor (TTU) Regency Government in the health services sector has received national appreciation. The Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes RI) officially awarded this region the 2026 Malaria Elimination Certificate as a form of recognition for its success in consistently breaking the transmission chain of the disease.
The Regent of TTU, Yosep Falentinus Delasalle Kebo, directly received the prestigious award from the Vice Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Dante Saksono Harbuwono. The presentation of the certificate took place during the peak commemoration of World Malaria Day 2026 at the Siwabessy Auditorium, Ministry of Health Building, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (28/7/2026).
The success of this region, which directly borders Timor-Leste, is supported by a series of strategic steps. One of these is the implementation of a digital surveillance system in all community health centers (puskesmas) that enables rapid and accurate reporting and detection of cases to minimize treatment delays.
In addition to digitization, the TTU Regency Government also strengthened border surveillance through joint integrated health screening with the Health Office of Oecusse-Ambeno District, Timor-Leste. This step was reinforced by the establishment of a special 'Malaria Hunter' team in the West Timor region, collaborating with the Rotary organization to actively track cases.
Through this achievement, the TTU Regency Government is committed to continuing to improve medical service preparedness and maintaining its malaria-free status. This sustainable effort is expected to maintain the health quality of the local community while inspiring other border regions in Indonesia.
