PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) recorded a significant financial performance surge in the first semester of 2026. Consistent business transformation steps and operational efficiency successfully led the state-owned fertilizer producer to achieve fantastic net profit growth amidst global economic uncertainty.
During the January to June 2026 period, Pupuk Indonesia successfully posted a net profit of IDR 8.51 trillion, skyrocketing 253 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. This growth was also accompanied by a 51 percent increase in the company's revenue to IDR 59.67 trillion, as well as a 140 percent rise in EBITDA to IDR 14.28 trillion.
President Director of PT Pupuk Indonesia, Rahmad Pribadi, explained that this brilliant achievement was inseparable from comprehensive business restructuring under the supervision of Danantara Indonesia. Government support strengthened the corporate financial foundation to continue contributing to maintaining national food security sustainably.
Rahmad added that the company now strictly applies the principles of operational excellence and cost leadership. This strategy ensures Pupuk Indonesia no longer relies on global commodity price fluctuations to generate profitability. In addition, diversification into non-subsidized and non-fertilizer segments further strengthened the company's business resilience.
This structural transformation is also supported by regulations, including Presidential Regulation Number 113 of 2025, which focuses on governance efficiency. Moving forward, Pupuk Indonesia plans to revitalize seven plants over five years and expand its business portfolio into the green chemical sector, such as methanol and clean ammonia.
On the distribution side, the implementation of the i-Pubers digital system and regulatory ease from Presidential Regulation Number 6 of 2025 accelerated the distribution of subsidized fertilizers to farmers. As of July 12, 2026, the realized distribution of subsidized fertilizer reached 5.13 million tons, or around 52 percent of the total national allocation of 9.8 million tons. With a national production capacity reaching 14.8 million tons per year, domestic needs are guaranteed secure while opening up opportunities for penetration into global markets.
