Daily Chair of Dekranas, Tri Tito Karnavian, sharply highlighted the phenomenon of technology dependence, which has begun to erode the quality of household interactions. She conveyed this while opening the TUNAS Family Craft Creation Workshop at Trans Studio Mall, Makassar, on Thursday (7/9/2026), aimed at educating the public on the importance of maintaining warmth in relationships in the digital era.
Tri highlighted the paradox of technology where easy access to gadgets often causes family members in the same room to lose real communication because each is too busy with the virtual world. According to her, modern progress must be utilized as a bridge to bring the distant closer, not to create distance among those who are near us.
Furthermore, Tri emphasized the urgency of implementing digital parenting. She reminded parents that protecting children today is not limited to physical needs, but also includes their safety in cyber space from threats of negative content, cyberbullying, to personal data misuse.
Regarding these protection efforts, Tri expressed full support for the government through the Government Regulation on Electronic System Governance for Child Protection (PP TUNAS). She stressed that this regulation is not intended to restrict children's creativity, but rather to provide a filter so that children remain safe while exploring the digital world.
In closing, she invited all elements of society, from families to digital platform providers, to work together in creating a healthy online ecosystem. Through collaboration between Dekranas and the Ministry of Communication and Digital, it is hoped that parents will be able to build emotional closeness through shared creative activities while equipping children with strong digital literacy.
