Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) has once again reaffirmed its position as a driving force in nurturing student talent in Aceh. This was marked by the election of USK's Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Rina Suryani Oktari, S.Kep., M.Si., FRSPH, as General Chairperson of the Indonesian Student Sports Governing Board (BAPOMI) and the Indonesian Student Arts Governing Board (BPSMI) for Aceh for the 2026–2030 period.
This appointment was decided during an Extraordinary Provincial Deliberation (Musprovlub) held at the USK Senate Hall on Saturday (June 20, 2026). The election process took place following the end of the previous board's term, referencing the Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART), which stipulate that the chairperson position is held ex-officio by a university leader overseeing student affairs.
The forum's unanimous support for Dr. Rina reflects the collective trust of higher education institutions in Aceh toward USK's track record. USK has long been regarded as having made consistent contributions and demonstrating strong capability in encouraging student achievements on both regional and national stages.
In her response, Dr. Rina emphasized that BAPOMI and BPSMI serve as a home for all campuses in Aceh. She committed to fostering an inclusive spirit of collaboration so that student talent development can proceed in a more targeted and sustainable manner in the future.
One of the main priorities highlighted by the newly elected General Chairperson is the readiness to face the Regional Student Art Week (Peksimida). Dr. Rina stressed the importance of building a collective support system so that the organizational burden of such major events can be well distributed among member institutions, rather than relying solely on a single host.
To complete the organizational structure, the deliberation forum also formed a committee of formatters. This team is tasked with drafting the full board structure for the 2026–2030 period, involving representatives from various higher education institutions in Aceh as well as former board members to ensure the continuity of a synergistic work program.
