Vietnamese airline Vietjet is intensifying its expansion strategy by launching an initiative called Vietnam Halal Connect. This program is designed to create an inclusive travel ecosystem for Muslim tourists through synergy between the airline, airport operators, tourism service providers, and international halal certification bodies.
This strategic move was introduced at the Vietnam Halal Tourism Conference 2026 in response to the growing demand for halal-compliant facilities and services for travelers from various countries. Indonesia, which has the world's largest Muslim population, is positioned as a crucial market in Vietnam's tourism development roadmap.
Vietjet is committed to facilitating travelers' needs through the provision of halal food, the utilization of digital travel technology, and strategic partnerships across the tourism value chain. These efforts are fully supported by the airline's extensive network, which currently operates over 135 routes, including direct connections from Jakarta and Bali, the main gateways for Indonesian tourists.
Vietjet Commercial Director, Ha Nang Viet, emphasized that the key to winning the hearts of Muslim tourists is providing comfort and confidence during their travels. By strengthening connectivity and service standardization, it is hoped that the experience of exploring destinations in the Land of the Blue Dragon will become much easier and more inclusive.
Statistical data shows a positive trend: throughout 2025, Vietnam recorded over 21 million foreign tourist arrivals, with 600,000 of them being Muslim tourists. The Vietnamese government believes that with its strategic geographical position and the sustainable development of the halal ecosystem, the national tourism sector will continue to grow significantly in the future.
